Oak Creek Retriever Training Facility is conveniently located in Bryan, Texas. A short scenic drive from Houston, Austin, or Waco can have you at our facility quickly.

Here at Oak Creek Retriever Training Facility, our goal is to train and breed the best working retriever or family companion that exceeds your expectations in the field and in the house. This begins with a solid foundation that our program provides for you.

Chris Krause

Chris Krause, owner of OCR, has been an avid outdoorsman his entire life. He grew up hunting the Katy prairie, the river bottoms, the toughest sloughs, and the Gulf Coast. His lifetime of chasing waterfowl has created who he is and what eventually sparked his passion to become a dog trainer. This experience in the duck blind is also what provides him the knowledge of what is desired and required in the field with your dog. The ultimate goal is to have an excited dog that loves to hunt and have the dogs passion be visibly seen with each retrieve.

Experience

Chris purchased his first yellow Labrador puppy, "Boss," in mid 2008 and quickly realized this was exactly what he was meant to do. He bought and read every book and video on the market. Chris joined several local training clubs and began training every friends dog just to practice what he had learned.

 

By 2009 Chris had earned certifications from Animal Behavior College and Penn Foster Career School in their respective animal behavior and training curriculums. 

In early 2011, Chris began his apprenticeship under the legendary retriever trainer Steve Hendricks, owner of Hendricks Kennels.

 

By 2012 Chris had earned the title and role of being Hendricks first Kennel Manager & Lead Trainer. During Chris' time there he was able to personally train over 2,500 dogs ranging from Obedience to the most advanced Master Hunters.
